NetwurX News

NetwurX is committed to providing continuous high-quality internet service to our customers. As a result of this commitment, we have been taking major steps to improve our service. We are happy to announce the following network updates:

Overall Network Improvement(s)
We continue to add more customers to our network on a daily basis. We welcome this growth and recognize that our customers are becoming more sophisticated users of the internet. Unfortunately, this growth does have an impact on the network.
Over the last six months, you may have noticed intermittent network outages and slower speeds. These outages are simply due to the fact that the equipment has been unable to keep up with the amount of traffic traveling on our network.
In order to address these issues, we are installing additional equipment to improve our ability to handle the increased traffic and installing additional fiber lines to add further redundancy to the network. In addition, we have also added even more battery back up capacity to handle the network that has been affected by power outages. Our Network Operations Center personnel have been working diligently on the network upgrades. You can expect to notice improved network speeds within the next few weeks! We are confident you will be happy with our new improved service.

Existing Towers
Town of Erin: NetwurX is currently working with the town of Erin to get approval for a new permanent tower to serve our Holy Hill customers who are experiencing interference and customers seeking service in Erin Meadows. If you are an Erin resident or currently on the Holly Hill tower and have not already joined us at our public meetings, please join us April 3rd at 7pm at the Erin Town hall to openly discuss our unique situation.
Navini Towers (eyecom wireless): We are currently investigating the possibility of installing our Canopy wireless system on our towers that currently have aging Navini gear. Once the service is installed, we will be sending a notice to customers who are eligible for this updated service.

New Towers
We were busy over the summer installing three new towers to service new areas and expanding existing areas.
1) Our Whitewater 4 tower was installed at the WSLD radio station in the town of Richmond near Whitewater. This tower provides excellent coverage in Delevan, Elkhorn and the south Whitewater areas.
2) Our Fort Atkinson 2 was installed on the west side of town near the water tower and further expands our service to Fort Atkinson and, surrounding areas.
3) Our Riverbend Resort Tower located between Watertown and Waterloo on the ?Big? hill at River Bend Resort addresses the needs of our customers in Lake Mills, Watertown, Waterloo and Reeseville areas that were not covered by existing towers.
If you live in these areas and are interested in our wireless service, please feel free to contact us for more information.
If you are not sure if you are within range of one of our towers, go to www.netwurx.net and click on our wireless map to search for towers in your area.

Future Towers
If you are interested in our wireless service and do not have a tower in your area, please be sure to add your name to our future towers list by contacting us at support@netwurx.net or call 800-638-9879.
Site Surveys (Provisioning)
We acknowledge the delays some of our customers have experienced waiting for site surveys. We appreciate your understanding as we have struggled to keep ahead of the weather. In addition to dealing with our harsh winter weather, many of our resources have been dedicated and focused on our network improvement projects. We are working very hard to get caught up.

DSL Service
We love our wireless service, however we love our DSL service as well! We are finding that many of our customers are still not aware that we also provide DSL service. This service is provided to eligible customers who have AT&T or SBC for their phone company. Our DSL service is perfect for customers who are tired of slow dial-up speeds. If you are interested in finding out if you are eligible for DSL service visit www.netwurx.net to request a DSL check. Once we have determined you are eligible for the service, the whole process takes about 5 days, and the cost is about the same as dial-up.

Email
The email problems we experienced in the fall and early winter were frustrating to say the least! We worked very closely with the manufacturer of our spam filtering software to iron out significant problems with their code that required us to double our spam server capacity. The result is that their code has been corrected and we now have an extra spam filtering server to handle our email traffic. Remember: You can access your spam filtering settings by going to: http://nospam.netwurx.net and entering your email address and password.
Webmail: We are currently testing a new webmail tool and invite you to test is as well. You can access it by going to http://altwebmail.netwurx.net .Be sure to let us know what you think!

Dial-up
We recognize that many of our dial-up customers experience difficulties with slow connection speeds and maintaining their connections. In an effort to resolve this issue, we did some major reconstruction to our dial-up network. During the reconstruction we discovered that many of our customers had outdated modem drivers which caused some additional difficulty. We worked closely with these customers to get them updated.
Dial-up is not our fastest connection to the internet. We strive to make this service as best as it possibly can be, but do recommend upgrading to our faster DSL or Wireless service. High-speed internet access is especially important if you are conducting any online banking, internet auctions or purchasing products and services online.

We apologize for not keeping in touch with all of you over the last year. This is the first of many more emails to come. NetwurX has experienced some outages over the last year and we are pleased to say that we have weathered the storm and have repaired those outages with more reliable solutions. We have big plans for this upcoming year that will bring new updated service and high levels of reliability. Thank you for your continued patronage and we look forward to providing you excellent service.
